Healthy White Christmas Slice

What better way to celebrate the holidays than getting in the kitchen for some fun and easy festive recipes while listening to Christmas music and drinking homemade Easy Spiced Mulled Wine!

It’s time for the pièce de résistance of my delicious trio of wholefood holiday recipes. Following the decadence of the raw chocolate fudge wheel and the luscious White Chocolate Macadamia Fudge, here is our final star: my Healthy White Christmas Slice!

A traditional recipe morphed into a modern twist, this wholefood slice offers a healthier version without compromising on taste. I swap the heavy and sweet condensed milk with raw cacao butter and the oily, tasteless copha with nutritious nut butter.

Packed with wholesome ingredients and festive flavours, this treat is a celebration of guilt-free indulgence. The delicious blend of nuts, dried fruits, and coconut, creates a symphony of textures and tastes alongside warming ginger spice.

Add whatever nuts and dried fruit you like to please your tastebuds, but below I’ve kept it in line with the traditional colours and flavours associated with its’ namesake, Christmas.

No matter what you decide to add, it’s a delicious flavour-bomb with every mouthful!

Gather your ingredients and enjoy making this nutritious and delicious holiday treat.

Ingredients:

  • 150gm of raw cacao butter (we use buttons)
  • 1-2 tablespoons tahini paste (can use cashew butter instead)
  • ½-3/4 cup of maple syrup to taste
  • 1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cup pistachios, chopped (additional for decoration)
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cup brown rice puffs

Optional:

  • ½ cup desiccated coconut
  • ½ cup coconut flakes (leave some for decoration)

Instructions:

Start with 150 grams of cacao butter buttons and a tablespoon or two of tahini paste in a clean bowl over a pot of hot water like a double boiler.

Stir to mix and soften then remove from heat while you add the remaining ingredients.

Add maple syrup, vanilla extract, ground ginger to taste and stir through well.
Chop pistachios, dried cranberries (and a few mixed currants if you like), desiccated coconut and a few coconut chips.

Optional: stir through a few teaspoons of monkfruit icing sugar for a bit of extra sweetness without adding more maple syrup.

Stir through to mix well then pour slice mix into a baking paper lined slice dish and place in the freezer to set for about 30mins. Cut into squares and store in the fridge.

There you have it—three delicious wholefood desserts to enchant your holiday tastebuds! May these treats bring joy and fun to your festive table.

I hope your holidays are merry and mindful.
